As a senior in high school, I was fortunate enough to have opportunities to look at various universities throughout the country, but something about Wichita State attracted me from the moment I stepped on to the campus. The academic environment and support for the student-athletes was the first thing that caught my eye. The staff’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the game made me want to be a Shocker, along with their amazing dedication to the school, players and drive for excellence.
I have learned from my experience at WSU that behind each team there are many components to the bigger picture that we take for granted every day. Through the Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization (SASO) my dreams and goals of the future are one step closer, thanks to the financial support given to Wichita State student-athletes. The opportunities that I have been given let me compete at the highest level of Division I volleyball and in the classroom. Above all, I have met many SASO members and fans in the Wichita community who are very supportive individuals that genuinely care about the student-athlete. To know the value and how much I had to work for it has made me deeply appreciate the people that make it possible for me to achieve my desires of competing at the highest level.
With this scholarship I will continue to pursue my exercise science degree at Wichita State. My future goals as a Shocker are made possible by the SASO members and their generous contributions. So, from the bottom of my heart I thank you, donors, for the opportunity you have given me to represent this fine university and community. I know I will always be a Shocker student-athlete at heart.
