Sedgwick County Sheriff Dept. | Women’s Basketball ’96-’00 | Criminal Justice 2000

My name is Keomi Johnson and I played women’s basketball at Wichita State University from 1996-2000. I chose Wichita State because of the great campus and the awesome support within the athletic department. I met so many people within the athletic department who genuinely cared about the athletes and provided an atmosphere for us to be successful in the classroom as well as on the court. From tutors to study hall rooms, everything was top notch and available for student-athletes to take advantage of to strengthen our classroom skills.

Receiving a scholarship through the Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization really made a difference in my life. SASO helped create an environment for me to thrive in and be successful. Thanks to donors, it provided a chance for me to receive a college education as well as allowing me to compete at a higher level in women’s basketball. It was a great achievement for me to be able to compete in Division I Basketball. My biggest achievement was earning a criminal justice degree and without the help from SASO that achievement would have been tougher to grasp.
