Women’s Golf Earns Team Academic Award

The Wichita State University Women’s Golf Team was honored by the National Golf Coaches Association as one of the top academic programs in the country.  WSU compiled a 3.589 GPA, good for the seventh among NCAA Division I schools and 13th among all divisions.

“Our ladies work really hard, both athletically and in the classroom,” Women’s Golf Head Coach Tom McCurdy said.  “I am really proud of their diligence, especially from the freshmen.  It’s hard to be away from home.”

The Wichita State University women’s golf team landed five players on the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.  Only one team in any division had more recipients.

Erin Coons, Gretchen Huhnerkoch, Lauren Hassell, Natalie Samb and Abby Bartlett all represented the Shockers by earned a 3.5 or higher GPA while participating in at least 50% of the team’s tournaments.
