The College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday that Wichita State track & field senior Audacia Moore has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Track/Cross Country second team.
Moore received the honor in NCAA Division I District Seven, which includes Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Moore, who is from Wichita, carries a 3.94 GPA in nursing. She received the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Track & Field Elite-18 Award this season and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team for the fourth time in her career.
She finished with all-conference recognition in five events during the 2012 MVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. She is a 10-time MVC champion who holds individual school records in five events and in three relays.
Moore posted the MVC’s top times of the 2012 season in the outdoor 100 meters (11.59), outdoor 200 meters (23.57) and indoor 60 meters (7.45). She qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in both the women’s 100 meters and 200 meters, participating in regionals for the third time in her career.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
